Introducing the Thistleborn Team
Thistleborn Tours was founded by two female Glaswegian historians filled with enthusiasm, passion and love for their home city. Find out a little bit more about each of founders here:
Amy

Amy is a proud Glaswegian, having lived in the city her whole life, and is well known among friends and family for being a passionate advocate for all things Glasgow. She carried this love of her city to the University of Glasgow, where she completed an undergraduate degree in History with a focus on Early Modern Scotland, followed by a Master’s in Film Studies, making her the perfect guide to share insights on your favourite Scottish film locations.
Amy also has many years of experience in Glasgow’s hospitality scene, giving her insider knowledge of the city’s best bars, restaurants, and all the whiskies you should try during your visit.
Beyond her professional qualifications, Amy is bright, bubbly, and full of infectious energy. She knows the city like the back of her hand and delights in sharing its stories, secrets, and quirks with visitors. Join her for a tour, and you’ll quickly see why guests leave with big smiles — and a little piece of Glasgow in their hearts.
Katie

Katie is a born-and-bred Glaswegian with an impeccable knowledge and passion for the city she calls home. She and Amy studied History at the university together, where Katie excelled as top of her class and became an undisputed expert in Scottish history. She also has a background in education - indeed there is no one better equipped to teach you all about Glasgow!
As well as her unrivalled academic achievements, Katie is a very talented fiddle player and a true enthusiast of traditional Scottish music. She can guide you to the best music sessions in town, recommend the ceilidhs not to miss, and share all the fascinating stories behind the tunes.
Engaging, intelligent, funny and endlessly welcoming, Katie delivers tours that are both informative and unforgettable, leaving visitors with a deep love and appreciation for Glasgow and its rich culture.
